McAfee Labs: Malware Exposed

- Dave Marcus
You've often heard that the Internet is a dangerous place and you've probably read about threats such as botnets, keystroke loggers and drive-by installations of malware through rigged Web sites. But what is malware really? How do cybercriminals launch their malicious attacks? McAfee is offering you the chance to find out with this unique Malware Exposed session.

Join experts from McAfee Labs and have a chance to work with a Trojan horse, command a botnet, execute a parasitic virus and maybe even experience firsthand how easy it is to modify websites to serve up malware. Of course this will all be done in a safe and closed environment, ensuring that what you experience firsthand doesn't actually go out onto the Internet.

David Marcus is the Director of Security Research and Communications for McAfee Labs. He brings McAfee Labs extensive security research to McAfee's customers and the greater security community. Marcus is responsible for all of McAfee Labs communications, including publications, blogging, podcasting and even tweeting. When not hunting down threats, he avidly power lifts and annoys his neighbors with his criminally poor guitar playing.

InfraGard - Nations Capital Members Alliance

INCMA consists of a growing membership of professionals who are creating a more resilient critical infrastructure in the Washington, DC metro area. These include defense industrial base, information technology, water supply systems, electrical energy, emergency services, law enforcement, health systems, gas and oil, storage and delivery, transportation, banking, and telecommunications. Our membership is voluntary yet exclusive and is comprised of individuals from both the public and private sector. The main goal of the InfraGard Nations Capital chapter is to promote ongoing dialogue, education, community outreach and timely communication between public and private members. Furthermore, to achieve and sustain risk-based target levels of capability to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from all hazards or events, and to minimize their impact on lives, property, and the economy.  Visit us at http://www.InfraGardNationsCapital.org
